General Information
The Sheriff and his staff are required to follow strict federal guidelines when performing necessary procedures for fingerprinting. During the application process, you will be asked to schedule an appointment. Please note that you will be asked to pay now to reserve your appointment.
Pricing:
- Fingerprinting costs $25.00
- If you desire a hard copy of your fingerprints there is an additional fee of $5.00 per card. You must request this during your online transaction
- Appointments for fingerprinting will be processed between 8:00am-4:30pm MON, TUE, THU, and FRI.

Fingerprinting Requirements: must meet ALL requirements
If you are obtaining fingerprints for employment or licensure please make sure you receive the Electronic Submission form from the agency requesting that you be fingerprinted. If you do not have these forms with you during your appointment we cannot fingerprint you. You must be a Halifax County resident to obtain fingerprints from this office.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office offers this service as a convenience to county residents only. In addition to the non-refundable fingerprint fee of $25.00, the system will charge a per-transaction fee for the convenience of applying and paying for fingerprints online. The service fee is not collected by the Sheriff’s Office. This fee is paid to the vendor Permitium. If you desire a hard copy of your fingerprints there is an additional fee of $5.00 per card. You must request this during your online transaction. You do not have the option any longer of paying by cash in person at the Sheriff’s office.
Click the "Let's Get Started" button to begin your fingerprint application. You will be asked for identifying information that will need to be included on the fingerprint card. The cost to be fingerprinted and any other requested services must be paid online after you enter your information. You will also be able to choose an appointment with the Sheriff's Office for your fingerprinting session. Appointments are from 8:30 am to 4:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays only.
